CONSTRUCTION OF A SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND IN UGANDA.
Itinga Charity Education Foundation (ICEF) in partnership with Imara-Uganda Education Fund is supporting the construction of a secondary school for the blind in Northern Uganda. The school aims to provide inclusive Education to visually impaired students and others learners (Education for all). The school will be a secondary section of Ngetta Girls Primary School which has for many years been providing inclusive education to special needs pupils.
PHASE ONE OF THE INCLUSIVE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IS COMPLETED
The construction of inclusive secondary school for the blind in Uganda. We are glad to announce that Itinga Charity Education Foundation in Partnership with Imara-Uganda Education Fund have completed the construction of eight classrooms, and administrative offices at the recently opened inclusive secondary school for the blind, St Mary Goretti Senior Secondary school in Ngetta, in Lira city.
STUDENTS ENROLLED AT THE INCLUSIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL IN UGANDA IN FEBRUARY 2024.
Students enrolled for studies at the inclusive secondary school for the blind. 2024 has been an incredibly successful year for us at Itinga Charity Education Foundation and Imara- Uganda Education Fund, after completing phase one of the construction of an inclusive secondary school for the blind – St Mary Goretti Secondary School,Ngetta. The school was pioneered with 14 senior one students during the official first term of the year. ie, 6 visually impaired students, 1 student with cerebral palsy, 4 non disabled and 3 lame students.
It’s been an exhilarating journey so far, and we are confident that in 2025, we will be in position to provide more space for hundreds of students with different abilities to have access to quality inclusive secondary education.
We greatly appreciate our partner Imara-Uganda Education Fund for the grants provided , Lira Catholic diocese for providing land and all our donors and communities. Because of you, St. Mary Goretti SS Ngetta is now providing inclusive education to the blind and other students.

The construction is progressing in phases.
PHASE ONE:
Construction of the main building is progressing well and it is in the final stage of completion. It comprises of 8 class rooms, offices, staffroom and toilets. The plan is to open the school with senior one in 2024 and use some of the rooms temporarily to meet all the needs of the school while the construction of other facilities continues. We are so grateful to our partner Imara-Uganda Education Fund who provided grants for the construction of phase one of the main building. Many thanks to all donors who are donating for this project.

PHASE TWO:
In 2024 the plan is to extend the main building by adding on the multipurpose hall, 2 in 1 computer lab (main computer lab and braille specialized computer lab) and 2 in 1 library (main library and braille library for braille textbooks). We believe that through your generous contributions, we can provide these facilities and even more come year 2024.
PHASE THREE:
The school will also require permanent dormitories, extra toilet facilities and a science laboratory.
